ZX300M Basic Maintenance for On-site Personnel

Routine maintenance tasks to keep the ZX300M operating reliably between services.

Overview

This article describes the basic, routine maintenance tasks that on-site personnel are permitted to carry out on the ZX300M lidar system. These checks are intended to maintain reliability and data quality between scheduled return-to-base services. This article does not replace manufacturer servicing requirements.

Who this is for

This article is for on-site personnel responsible for routine inspection and upkeep of an installed ZX300M system. It is written for non-certified personnel with basic technical competence.

Prerequisites

  • ZX300M installed and commissioned

  • Safe access to the unit in accordance with site rules

  • Approved access equipment if working at height

  • Clean water and lint-free cloths

  • Manufacturer-approved grease for Subconn connectors

Safety notes

  • The ZX300M contains a laser system. The lidar must not be powered during cleaning or inspection.

  • The ZX300M has no internal power switch. Power is isolated only by removing the external power supply.

  • Do not rely on visual indicators alone to confirm the system is safe.

  • Electrical isolation must be completed before any maintenance activity.

  • There are no user-serviceable parts inside the ZX300M. Do not open the unit housing.

  • Tasks beyond those listed in this article must be escalated to WISE Group or the manufacturer.

Step-by-step

The following checks may be carried out by on-site personnel as part of routine six-monthly basic maintenance. These checks are visual and non-invasive.

Periodic maintenance checklist (6‑monthly)

  • Washer fluid level – check and top up if required using approved fluid

  • Subconn connectors – visually inspect and ensure connectors are seated; apply approved grease if dry

  • Lidar window – clean using a damp, lint-free cloth and clean water only

  • Wiper blade condition – visually check for wear or damage

  • Lidar base fasteners – visually confirm fasteners are present and secure

Do not dismantle, open, or adjust the ZX300M as part of basic maintenance.

Validation / What “good” looks like

All checklist items completed with no defects found

  • Lidar window is clean and unobstructed

  • No visible damage, loose connectors, or alarms after power is restored

  • ZX300M powers up without alarms

  • Window is clean and unobstructed

  • Wiper operates normally during rain or test cycles

  • No loose connectors or visible damage

  • System resumes normal data collection

Troubleshooting

Symptom: Lidar does not power up
Possible cause: Power not restored or temperature out of range
Action: Verify external power and allow warm-up time

Symptom: Poor data quality after cleaning
Possible cause: Residue on window
Action: Re-clean using clean water only

Symptom: Repeated wiper faults
Possible cause: Worn blade
Action: Escalate for service
