Connecting an existing PACE system to Orbalux

Extend an existing PACE installation with secure remote dashboards, historical access and controlled data sharing through Orbalux.

Overview

Existing PACE installations can forward processed monitoring data to Orbalux, WISE Group’s cloud platform for environmental and operational data.

This allows customers to extend access to data from an existing PACE system without immediately replacing the local monitoring platform.

Orbalux is the successor to MM Weather and provides the long-term WISE Group platform for cloud-based dashboards, historical access and controlled data sharing.

What the connection can provide

Depending on the agreed configuration, Orbalux can provide:

  • Remote access to selected monitoring parameters
  • Real-time dashboards
  • Historical graphs and data review
  • Multi-site monitoring
  • Controlled access for approved users and organisations
  • Data export
  • Integration with approved third-party services

The parameters available in Orbalux depend on what is configured and available in the local PACE system.

How the connection works

PACE continues to operate locally and remains responsible for acquiring, processing, displaying and logging the connected sensor data.

Selected processed values are forwarded from the installation to Orbalux through an approved outbound connection. This means Orbalux can receive monitoring data without requiring inbound access from the cloud to the operational PACE system.

The precise architecture depends on the installation’s network, cybersecurity requirements and existing PACE configuration.

Prerequisites

Before configuring the connection, WISE Group will normally need to confirm:

  • The PACE version and system configuration
  • Which parameters should be transferred
  • Available network connectivity
  • Customer firewall and cybersecurity requirements
  • Required organisations and user access
  • Data retention and sharing requirements
  • Whether MM Weather is currently in use
  • Whether additional hardware or software is required

Not every legacy installation will support the same connection method.

Migration from MM Weather

Customers currently using MM Weather can discuss migration to Orbalux with WISE Group.

The migration approach will depend on the existing installation, required historical information, users, dashboards and data-sharing arrangements.

MM Weather should not be disconnected until the replacement service has been configured, tested and accepted.

Configuration and security

PACE-to-Orbalux forwarding should be configured by WISE Group or approved personnel. Connection settings, credentials and certificates should not be shared through public documentation or ordinary email.

Do not change firewall rules, forwarding settings or the operational PACE configuration without the appropriate customer approval.

Requesting an assessment

To request a PACE-to-Orbalux assessment, provide:

  • Installation, vessel or facility name
  • PACE version, if known
  • Current remote-data service, if any
  • Required parameters
  • Expected users or organisations
  • Available network connection
  • Customer IT or cybersecurity contact
  • Desired implementation timescale

Submit this information through the WISE Group support channel. Our team will review the existing installation and recommend an appropriate connection approach.
